Nations Past time

Since I moved back to Iowa, I havent been able to do much. Mostly because there isnt much to do. What I'm trying to say is; Im bored! I decided I am going to go on a spending spree. I will be purchasing two major league baseball teams. I will run one team and you can run the other one. You knew there was a catch though. The catch is my payroll will be 200 million dollars and yours' will be one fifth of that, or 40 million dollars. What? You don't feel thats fair. You must feel the same way about major league baseball. Well that's how they have been doing business for years. They don't have a salary cap. Baseball is small market teams vs big market teams. Which is the main reason why I feel our nations' pasttime has done just that: past its time.

If you do believe MLB's system is fair and makes sense, then prepare to have your eyes opened. I can't understand why they don't have an even playing field. I've heard it time and time again, big payrolls don't equal championships. You are correct. Big payrolls don't always bring titles but it certainly puts you in position to win. If you can find a Kansas City Royal fan, ask him when is the last time they played a meaningful game? I can bet it hasn't been in the last fifteen years. The Royals, Pittsburg Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, and even Larry's boys, the Texas Rangers are normally out of contention by the All-Star break.

I do know, there are always exceptions to the rules. If you are smart with your 40 million, you could be the Tampa Bay Rays. They won the most competitive divisional race last year, beating the Yanks and Sox. The Rays made it to the World Series last year and their opponent, Philadelphia Phillies also had a normal payroll. The Florida Marlins won 2 world titles, but each time, they dumped payroll the following year. The most consistant teams who are small market teams are the Oakland A's and the Minnesota Twins. They use their farm systems and also spend wisely in the free agent market. I think that's the most important thing, spend wisely.

If you run the New York Yankees, you don't have to be smart. You have an endless amount of money. You can go out and spend alot on high dollar free agents. I get so upset about this the most. The big market teams get established stars, while the small market teams sign young raw potential talent, who may or may not pan out. The free agents the small market teams sign are veterans who are past their prime. The Yanks, Soxs, and Angels don't have to be smart. They sign anyone and everyone that can help their ball clubs. Small market teams don't have the same luxury. Last year, I rooted for the Rays because of these reasons. They do everything the right way. The Rays use their farm system to develop talent and sign crafty veteran leadership. They know they must be smart because one signing could hurt them for several years.

Major League Baseball has a version of a salary cap. They have a luxury tax system. MLB sets a number on what you can spend, essentially its a cap. If you exceed the "cap" then you pay into the tax. The tax is a certain percentage and if you continue to go over the threshold, you pay a larger increase. The maximum tax you will pay is forty percent. The problem I have with the system is that the tax does not go to the small market teams. The money goes to an industry growth fund. MLB uses that fund for player benefits and promoting baseball around the world. I think thats a nice cause but it should be shared. Baseball does have a revenue sharing, which is similar to the NFL. The NBA has both a salary cap and a luxury tax. They set the cap, it changes every year, and a team may go over it. Again, like baseball, if an NBA team goes over it by a certain percentage, they pay a tax. Most owners don't want to pay the tax, which is the reason you see teams trade a superstar for a quarter so they can get under the cap threshold. The NFL has the easiest system. The NFL has a salary cap and you can't go over it. They dont have a luxury tax. You can't exceed the cap. The only thing the NFL has is salary cap penalties for cutting players, since contracts aren't guaranteed, like they are in the NBA. If you cut players in the NFL, the penalty money gets taking away from your salary cap. Are you confused yet?

I guess what I'm trying to do is make this real simple. MLB is flawed. The steroid era helped gain fans back in the late 90's after the strike. Now steroids are hurting baseball. Many players we know and loved are getting caught now or did them back in the past. They need to implement a salary cap. I want to see baseball become fair and balanced. I also would love to see the media get on Bud Seligs' ass. This man should be fired. He turned a blind eye during the steroid era. He hasn't yet brought a salary cap to help those with less money. I know for a fact I would come back and watch baseball if I knew it was fair and an even field. Well, that and if I didn't have to hear athletes bitch about their contracts. I guess thats a whole other story. As always thanks for reading.

Judgement and Raw Fallout

The WWE provided a decent ppv at Judgement Day. If you were keeping track, I got 5 out of 7 matches correct. We had an icon return last night in the Nature Boy Ric Flair. But was it enough to boost the interest of this fan. I think its time to breakdown Judgement Day and the fallout from Monday Night Raw.

A quick recap of Judgement Day: Rey Mysterio and Jericho had the best match by far. Matt Hardy screwed his brother again, so Edge is still the champ on Smackdown. Christian outsmarted Swagger to keep the ECW title. CM Punk couldnt buy a win in his hometown over Umaga. Orton was dq'd and Flair returned after the match ended.

Raw started the way its suppose to, with the WWE Champ Randy Orton. He came out and talked about how he has kicked every former member of Evolution. Randy talked about the return of Flair and how it meant nothing. He is still champ. Flair comes out. WOOOO! I really like Flair, how can you not? Hes an icon. He always shows passion and heart in his promos. He tells Orton, Batista has surpassed him. Sorry Flair, I disagree. Flair also says he talked to Vikki and made a match at Extreme Rules. A steel cage match for the WWE title. Orton sucker punches Flair. Out comes Batista, then Cena. Match is made for the main event. Legacy vs Cena and Batista. Good opener.

Womens battle royal. Kelly Kelly wins, but teased us with Mickie and Beth going at it for a few mins. Just get to Mickie vs Beth vs Maryse. That might be fun. This was followed by Santino, a face now, vs Chavo. Santino stole it. Nothing special here. Come on writers! I want to be entertained.

A Kennedy KENNEDY promo. Cant wait. I love Mr Kennedy. Matt Hardy has a promo. I thought he and Jeff were over with. They are on seperate shows now. Will he show up and cost Jeff every ppv? He has a match against MVP for the US title match. These guys had a huge feud over on smackdown. At that time, MVP was the heel and Matt was the face.

Carlito and Primo vs Kendrick and Goldust. This just didnt make sense. Kendrick is trying to find a new tag team partner. Just bring back London. They were fun to watch together and they would have fun with Carlito and Primo. Instead, they are hurting the tag team titles. I know you love that Larry. Of course Kendrick and Goldust didnt win.

Another long ass promo with The Miz. The King Jerry Lawler interupted him. King has a great line about the commercials getting better ratings than The Miz promos. Awesome! The Big Show came out after a few mins. I believe I told you so when I said the WWE would make Show look dominate and then have him lose at the ppv. He tells Miz make believe time is over. He isnt done with Cena yet. Submission match made at the next ppv Show vs Cena. Im not that excited over that either. I will be if it doesnt end the same way it always does with show and cena, but it will. Show laid out the King at the end as well.

JR is now out doing commentary with Cole. Hardy vs MVP. They have great chemistry because of their history. I loved the match. Matt continues to compete with a broken hand. Im sure its difficult. Its still hard to believe Matt as a heel but with these 2 its alittle easier. MVP continues his hot streak on Raw. I want to see a long program with MVP and someone. Hes winning matches but hasnt had a long feud.

Raw has been about 2 storylines. Orton vs Batista and Show vs Cena. Yes they are great but the undercard needs stories. Take Smackdown. They have Edge vs Jeff Hardy, Punk vs Umaga, Y2J vs Rey Rey, and Morrison vs Benjamin. Raw writers take notice! The whole show cant be based on 2 storylines and some matches just made up.

Flair and Batista have a promo. Flair says hes coming back next week and wants to call out Orton. Batista doesnt show much faith. Flair says if you dont believe in me than Im not backing you. Again Flair is passionate and I would love to see him beat the crap out of Orton.

Raw is being dominated by Orton and Batista and Vikki and Chavo. Santina vs Vikki. Um do I really need to write about this? Didnt think so. Vikki is now Ms Wrestlemania.

Finally we get to some real wrestling! Legacy vs Batista and Cena. JR and Cole doin a good job together tonight. I sure miss the legend Jim Ross on Raw. Cena gets a big face pop tonight. Cena and Batista had momentum going into the break. We come back and Legacy is dominating Batista. I think it would have worked better to have Cena get worn down by Legacy. Batista doesnt sell the best. Plus Cena is suppose to be banged up. Cena gets the hot tag. The crowd is really into Cena. I like that better than the split he usually gets. Blind tag to Orton while Cena lays out Rhodes. Orton starts picking apart Cena. Triple H is still gonna be out for a few more weeks. So why cant we have Cena vs Batista vs Orton vs Show for the title? They might as well put both stories together. Rhodes hit a moonsault. JR and Cole were both shocked, as was I. Another hot tag and now Batista goes to work. Big Show comes out and Cena high tails it to take on Show. Flair comes out and helps out his Evolution buddy. Batista pins Orton after a spear. Flair will be back next week to call out Orton. Will this help Raws ratings? I dont know but it sure helped me enjoy Raw alittle bit more. WOOO! Until next time thanks for reading.

Judgement Day has Arrived

The WWE has tried to build any kind of momentum it can heading into this Sunday. I believe they have in some storylines Smack should build alittle bit more. Since I wont be able to blog again this week. Its time to see whats going to happen at the pay per view this Sunday. Judgement Day has arrive and I look into my crystal ball and tell you what will happen.

CM Punk vs Umaga. Im very excited to have Umaga back. He is a great wrestler and the gimmick works for me. CM has tried to cash in a few times but everytime Umaga is there. Umaga has had most of the momentum heading into the ppv. CM Punk will win this match. I dont see him cashing in later in the night either. Feud continues after the ppv.

John Cena vs The Big Show. Ive felt in the last few weeks that this is exactly what the WWE needs to do with Show. Hes a main eventer, yet hes always in bad storylines. He got his chance at mania earlier this year to show off his talent. Cena has been beatin to a pulp the last 2 weeks. Cena wins the match with an FU or throwback, whatever. But Show lays him out after the match and Cena will be gone for a month or 2. Yes this is gonna hurt Raw even more.

IC Champ Rey Mysterio vs Chris Jericho. I love this feud. I love both competitors. Rey can fly around the ring and y2j can make it even more fun and entertaining. I had been reading reports Jericho asked for this feud and wants it to last a while. Spoiler alert, Rey had a knee injury happen to him on Superstars this week causing panic during Smacks taping. Rey is said to be fine and its not serious. I hope the reports I got are right. Rey defends his title in a succesful way.

The All American American Jack Swagger vs ECW Champion Christian. If you have missed ECW and the entire build to this feud, what were you thinking? Christian has been able to show off his mic skills and Swagger has shown improvement. I hope this isnt the end of the feud. Swagger comes close but loses. Captain Charisma vs Swagger vs Dreamer at the ECW ppv in June.

WWE Champion Randy Orton vs Batista. If you have been reading my Raw blogs, you know I dont care much for Batista. I do love the Legend Killer Randy Orton. The build up has been ok, thats being nice. I think the fans arent buying into this either because I have seen Raws' ratings the past couple of weeks. The match will be alright. Randy will carry Batista through most of the match. Batista builds momentum when "THE GAME" Triple H comes back. Triple H will take out Orton leading to a DQ and setting up an all evolution feud starting on Raw. HHH Orton Batista will happen in the ring before Summerslam.

World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs Jeff Hardy. I want Hardy to win so bad. He got the title back at Armageddon in one of the best Triple Threat Matches Ive ever witnessed. Now, I want to see Jeff as a champion for longer than a month. I want to see if Jeff can build momentum and keep the fans interested as a World Champ. The bad thing is I never get what I want. Edge steals another victory. This feud will continue though. I believe Jeff will get the belt very soon though.

Thanks for reading. Be back next week.

Super and Smackdown

After a lack luster "A" show on Monday night, I wondered how the WWE would end the week. ECW delivered a solid show to make us forget about Raw. Now it was time for the only tri brand show in the WWE and to see if Smackdown could lead us into the weekend with something interesting and compelling. Lets begin with Superstars.

The WWE must have heard I didn't care for Raw because Superstars started off with Edges' show "The Cutting Edge". Edge's guest was the high flyer and his opponent at Judgement Day, Jeff Hardy. JR pumped him up and said he wouldnt bet against Hardy. Always listen to JR, he throws in some very interesting things. The chemistry between these two dates back all the way to Summerslam of 1999, Hardys vs E&C, in case you didnt remember. Edge brings up taking Cena out and now the same fate is gonna happen to Hardy. Jeff brings up Armageddon back in December and how he beat Edge for the WWE title. Jeff was very passionate in his interview. They continued to go back and forth. Hardy attacked Edge and hit the twist of fate, TOF, then the Swanton. Segment ended with Hardy holding up the World Title. I was very happy to see these guys start Superstars. Edge and Jeff needed to pump up there match at JD, and this worked perfectly to me. Good start so far!

We come back with a storyline that needs to go away, Santina Marrella tagging with Kelly Kelly vs The Glamazon Beth Phoenix, who actually got a huge pop, and Rosa. Im not a fan of this whole Santina thing, but I do love Beth. She is the best womens wrestler in the WWE. I would love to see her get some real tv time in the ring. The match wasnt to bad. Kelly has gotten better. Santina had a funny moment and got the hot tag. Kelly over Rosa in a very odd but kinda cool win. Cant we go back to the Glamazon detroying the Divas with a funny sidekick in Santino?

ECW time on Superstars. Finlay vs a new looking Zack Ryder. New look new music and new catchphrase, wo wo wo? I dont know what the hell thats about. Ryder can wrestle but Finlay took it to him. Finlay, the only man to use the apron as a weapon. Ryder has potential to be someone in ECW, but not on this night. Good luck kid.

Back from the break, and theres a cool video package of CM Punk. WWE is really pumping him up. The only 2 time winner of MITB. Last year was picture perfect for Punk. We continue with a recap of Smackdown last week. Highlights of Morrison Benjamin, and then the Fatal Four-Way, ending with y2j and Morrison confrontation.

Leading to our main event Y2J vs Morrison. This match had two of the best going right now on Smackdown. Morrison has now switched from an arrogant heel to well an arrogant face. The match started and went back and forth. We get 2 full segments of this match, which was perfect. Y2J had the upper hand coming back from the break. Morrison got momentum going. I dont know how big Morrison can get as a face. Hes a better heel but they needed another face on Smackdown and he fit the bill I guess. Morrison and Jericho had quite a few counters in this match. I love great wrestling and these 2 men provided it. Benjamins music hit towards the end and Morrison took his eye off the ball. CODEBREAKER, and Jericho gets a much needed victory. An awesome way to head towards Smackdown.

Smackdown starts with GM Teddy Long. Mysterio out next. He talks for a few mins about last weeks Fatal 4way. My boy, Jericho out next. He demands a shot at Reys IC title. Jeff Hardy out now. Teddy straightens everything out. We get Hardy vs Y2J and if Jericho wins, its a triple threat match for the world title at JD. Im already excited for the main event.

Mike Knox vs R truth starts the next break. Not much to talk about here. I guess R-truth isnt getting a push any longer. I like the kid too. He has natural charisma but neeedds some work in the ring. Mike Knox, well hes Gene Snizky, and thats not his fault.

At least Smackdown has some solid women performers. McCool vs Gail Kim. I have read on many wrestling sites how people dont like McCool. Well im not on that boat. I like Michelle, plus shes really easy on my eyes. Kim and her had a nice back and forth contest. Kim has some impressive moves. McCool finishes her off with the best womens finisher in the WWE.

Back to back backstage interviews with Hardy followed by Edge and Teddy Long. Again Hardy has passion and says everyone will witness him winning the world title come Judgement Day. Edge is the best complainer in the business right now. He whines but Long has none of that. He makes Edge and Punk for the World Title. Ive heard Punk come out and say he really wants to be a heel. Well the storyline is simple. Edge wants time off. Punk and Edge have fought a few times now since Punk was drafted to Smackdown. Edge could lose to Jeff and then have Punk cash in.

The match between Punk and Edge was decent but ended badly because Edge just said forget it and was counted out. Punk was then attacked by Umaga again. I want to see the Somoan Bulldozer take on Punk at Judgement Day, which was announced later on Smackdown.

The rest of Smackdown until the main event was pretty much a snoozer. An arm wrestling match with a couple of chicks. Ziggler vs The Great Kahli. But then...

The MAIN EVENT. Y2J vs Hardy. Again Jericho proves why hes one of the best going in the WWE. Yes, Im a Jericholic. You have to admit the guy is good. The action was fast paced in and out of the ring. Hardy tried his Whisper in the Wind, but failed. He also failed at an attempt at the Swanton. Edge was on commentary, Rey at ringside. Jericho tossed Hardy over the table at Edge. Edge even tried to distract Jericho, long 2 count for Hardy. This match had alittle bit of everything. Hardy finally found success and won with a TOF followed by a 5 star Swanton Bomb. Smackdown did a great job moving forward with their storyline development. My only problem is that the under card isnt doing much. We have y2j and Rey, Im sure that will happen at Judgement Day. I love the Hardy Edge feud. I just dont see much development anywhere else. With a wild finish though, the WWE offered something to remember heading into the weekend. I just hope Raw took some notes and follows suit. Tell next time.

Raw and ECW 5-5-09

Raw started with a bang, but to bad it fell through after the 1st segment. You know how you can tell its a bad Raw? Having The Miz talk for more than 8 mins by himself. Not to mention a "sing off" all led to a very WEAK Raw.

I loved the way Raw started. Shane vs Orton. Shane comes out and attacks Orton from behind. The bell never rang so the match officially never started. Shane went for his sweet elbow off the top on to the table but Legacy made the save. MVP tries to make the save, but unsuccessful. Batista makes the real save. Setting up 2 matches, MVP vs Rhodes and Batista vs DiBiase. I love the matches made but the real main event never happened. Screwing who else? The fans.

Matt Hardy complains again. Big deal. He loses to Kofi and lays him out at the end with his cast. Not much action and no storyline for Hardy.

At least Santino brought some laughter to a very dull segment of Raw. 3 backstage segments in which all we got was the Bella twins are sluts and Show vs Cena will happen at Judgement Day. Finally Show gets to "show" off his talents. Im a big Big Show fan. Cena and Show should have a great match. But as far as tonight and this storyline with Cena being hurt is actually hurting Raw. The Miz called out Cena and it Cena FOREVER to respond. The Miz is boring by himself. He had 1 good line in his completely boring shtick. Cena is a WWE machine created for kids and cougar moms. Cena comes out selling injuries. Show out next and just lays out Cena. Its to predictable going into Judgement Day. Cena is going to get revenge by any means. Big Show will be strong going in and Cena will make him look weak. Great job!

A Mickie James sighting, WOW. Finally a woman who can wrestle and isn't put into crappy situational story lines. To bad Maryse and her had no chemistry. Mickie wins, but sloppy. Give Mickie the Divas belt and have her feud with Beth Phoenix. Then we might care about the womens matches.

The Main Event ended up being Legacy vs Shane. MVP was takin out by Regal doing commentary during his match with Rhodes. Batista got dq'd in his match with DiBiase. Both were weak finishes to their matches. Batista was worse because he got himself Dq'd. I cant wait for him to turn heel so everyone will boo him and not just me. He sucks. He's the Ultimate Warrior of the new generation. His intro rules then the bell rings. He tried to appologize to Shane, but Shane had none of that. Batista vows to beat Orton at Judgement Day. No you won't. Match started with Shane attacking anything that moves. Numbers game catches up to him. Shane isolates DiBiase. Im fine with Shane in spurts but not like this. He isn't a strong wrestler. Shane did have control but Orton finally takes over. Raw needs Orton to take charge. No HHH, no match with Cena, and since mania no HBK. Raw is hurting right now for someone to take charge on the show. Vikki is stale. I love Legacy, but we saw them twice. They leave us with a memorable moment as Legacy finally takes out Shane. Shane crashed and burned through the table going for his elbow. Legacy picks up the pieces. Orton "breaks" Shanes ankle. Where was Batista, taking a nap? Maybe ECW can provide us with some decent wrestling and storytelling.

I got my wish, ECW started with Evan Bourne vs Tyson Kidd. 2 young talented wrestlers going at it. Evan is 1 of 3 guys I watch ECW for. Il get to the other 2 later on. These 2 start with mat wrestling. Natalya is now with Tyson Kidd and I would love to see a new Hart Foundation start up. Would be even better if they could talk Bret into coming back and help them out with their development? Ok not gonna happen but I loved Bret. Evan showed off why he should be on Smack or Raw already. At least on ECW they give the wrestlers time to develop a good story in the ring. Showcase the wrestlers abilities in the ring. If you have ever been to indy wrestling events, thats really what ECW tries to pull off. Focus on the wrestling and forget about the backstage crap and all the drama. The match gets 2 full segments. Finlay comes out and helps Bourne out. SSP, best in the business and Bourne picks up another victory. Solid stuff. Finley and Kidd have a rivalry brewing, which is good.

Swagger comes out and talks about gettin his title back. The kid isnt that great on the mic. Alittle stale, thats not fair is his best catchphrase. Doesnt have the same affect as say The Rock. Dreamer comes out and starts whaling on Swagger. Dreamer is the 2nd reason I watch ECW. He has never been utilized enough throughout the history of the "WWE ECW".

Kozlov isnt the 3, but he was up next. I know Larry loves Kozlov so he should have had a huge smile on his face as he destroyed some local jobber. Make Kozlov look strong for a few weeks and then give him a real storyline.

Mark Henry has an interview talkin about takin out 2 buffets after his match with Christian.
We come back from break and we get the 3rd and finally reason I watch ECW, Christian. Im so happy Christian is the ECW champ. 1st man ever to win the TNA title comeback to WWE and win a heavyweight title in WWE. Hes a great all around talent. He can talk, wrestle, and adds a big name to ECW. Mark Henry on the other hand, is slow, fat, lacks charisma, and I have no idea why he has a job. C squared does all he can to have a decent match. Swagger shows up followed by Dreamer. The main event is now a tag match Dreamer and C2 vs Henry and Swagger. Tag match went over very well with the crowd. Christian tried to gain momentum but Henry ended that. Dreamer got the hot tag. He looked to be on fire, but in the end Swagger got the victory and added momentum going into Judgement Day and his date with Christian for the ECW title. This match could end up being a show stealer at Judgement Day.

I hated Raw for its dull and boring moments but at least ECW provided some much needed solid wrestling and storylines. Im looking forward to getting HHH back at Judgement Day. Raw needs him back in the worst way. As far as ECW goes, keep doing what your doing. Il be back Friday night for an in depth look on the way the WWE finished the week with Superstars and Smackdown. Lets hope we arent letdown.

Week in Review

Its been a while since your boy J Call blogged on Bigbadsportsdaddy, but Im back and I have a lot to say. Lets start with a week in review of everything going on in wrestling.

The ppv Backlash went over as a big success in my eyes. I was especially pleased with Randy Orton winning the WWE title, again. The guy is the best wrestling in the business right now. Larry will say HHH, but he doesn't know anything. Orton captivates me every time i see him come to the ring. I feel passion even when he doesn't speak. So why wouldn't Raw start off with him? The new WWE champ comes out with Legacy. Great promo here by Orton. His long pause before even speaking, spoke volumes. He basked in all his glory. The surprise came when MVP decided to show up. The longest reigning US champ had a good debate with Legacy, leading to Vikki making the match later on, MVP vs. Orton. Throughout the night Raw featured the new acquisitions they made last week in the Draft. Kendrick was the 1st one vs Kofi. Good match. Both guys are US title contenders. We come back with women's crap. Dull and Boring, enough said. Matt came out with his broken hand. He did a nice promo about how he was "forced to wrestle". He beat Goldust, again very boring. I guess Matt is now Cowboy Bob Orton, using his cast to win.
Finally a good match. The 1st main event Orton vs MVP. MVP has his pyro back which I'm very happy about. He also did some great things in the ring. Orton and MVP had a solid contest only to have Shane show up and beat up Orton. The save was to late by Legacy. Next week is now gonna be Shane vs Orton. The Miz was another new guy wanting to make his name for himself on Raw. He challenged Cena. Cena never came out and Miz won by forfeit. Tag champs beat Noble and Chavo cuz the writers have no idea what to do with Noble or Chavo but throw them in a meaningless match. Main event was Show vs Batista for the number 1 contender to Ortons title. Batista won in a match Show dominated. Cena came out and distracted Show. My question is if he could come out then, why didn't he show up to beat The Miz's ass. Makes no sense. I hate Batista. He cant wrestle. I don't care for his promos. Thank god Orton will carry the feud.

Moving on to ECW and Superstars. ECW started with the NEW ECW champ Christian and rightfully so. Dreamer came out and asked for a title shot in MSG. He got it but not without a debate my Jack All American Swagger. Good promo here. I like all 3 of these guys. Dreamer is underutilized, if that's a word. ECW and Superstars both showcase young talent. Tyson Kidd w/Natalya fought Finlay in a solid contest. I hear a new Hart Foundation is starting up with this Kidd Natalya and DB Smith, or whatever hes gonna be called. C2 vs Dreamer was the main event on ECW. Great contest with Swagger interrupting at the end and taking out both. Dreamer doesn't get the ECW title. 5 weeks until he either retires or wins the title. I like where this is headed. Superstars started with a women's tag. I like Gail Kim and McCool. This match highlighted to much of A Fox. McCool beat Kim. One of the best high flyers in wrestling Evan Bourne took on Paul Burchill. Back and Forth contest with Evan hitting another 5 star Shooting Star Press, Youtube it, incredible. The kid deserves a push. Main event of Superstars was Dibiase vs Carlito. A 3rd g star vs a 2nd g star. Again the wrestling was solid in this match as well. Legacys' Dibiase won and will prolly end up getting a tag title shot soon.

Smackdown was suppose to have a scramble match but it was changed to a fatal 4 way. Who couldn't predict who was gonna win? Show opened with my boy Y2J. He talks Smack until Edge shows up. Most fans hate heel vs heel feuds, but I would love to see these two have a feud. Punk came out next to remind everyone hes got the most important briefcase in the WWE. He teased he was gonna cash in tonight. If the WWE wants to do something right, have Punk hold it all the way until next years Mania. No wrestler has done that yet. I would love to see Orton vs Punk at next years mania. Morrison vs Shelton was the 1st contest of the night, which happened to be heel vs heel. Both are solid performers. Love to see these two have another with some more time. Morrison gets the win and slowly is being pushed. Fatal 4 way with Kane Y2J Rey and Hardy for the right to wrestle Edge at Judgement Day was next. It was a very nice elimination match. It came down to Rey and Hardy. Rey is established as the IC champ. You had to know Hardy was gonna win by then. He does with a sweet counter to the West Coast Pop. Hardy vs Edge at ppv. I'm excited for this. Hardy deserves a longer title reign then a month like he got back in Dec into the Rumble. GIVE HIM THE TITLE BACK!!! MVP kept his title vs Ziggler. Not a huge fan of Ziggler, but i like they give the kid a push. MVPs final Smackdown ends with a W. Punk ended the night with a win over Edge. However, he never cashed in after the match. A returning UMAGA came out before he could and took Punk out. This works for me. Umaga is fantastic in the ring. He and Punk can have a fun feud here. Umagas a big man that can move around. Can Punk give him the GTS? Hardy makes the save for Punk. He takes out Edge to end the show. Get ready for a very fun next couple of weeks leading to Judgement Day. The 2 main events are set, Orton vs Batista and Edge vs Jeff Hardy. I look forward to Smackdowns title match a lot more.

I covered a lot in wrestling this week, but from now I will blog twice a week. I will lump ECW and Raw together on Tuesday nights. Then I will blog again either Friday night after Smackdown or Saturday morning. The 2nd blog will be Superstars and Smackdown together. Next week I will talk more about the feuds and where I hope the story lines go. I just wanted to sum up the week with an overall look at where the WWE is taking us. If that's not enough, I will also be blogging about random sports stuff. I hope you check them all out. Thanks for reading.
